Basic detection
Besides all the regular tools like auto-scan and quarantine, Baidu doesn’t offer anything special. The interface is easy to navigate, which is good. Installation is quick and hassle-free as there’s no premium option. It has a real-time protection mode, which protects your internet activities. This shouldn’t be a switchable option, since an antivirus app would do this by default.
Base level security
Baidu can defend against common threats and will detect some malware, but it does so on a fundamental level. It doesn’t detect advanced trojans and a lot of different ransomware. When a virus bypasses the app in a scan, you’d see a “safe” label, despite the fact that the virus will damage your device. One feature that works well is the behavioural alert. It tells you what the app suspects a particular website or file would do to your computer. Also, when a file becomes free of threats, there will be indicators on its name.
